I have to say, I never feel comfortable writing a negative post
But sadly it has to be done and since it is regarding a brand I affiliate with
I felt like I had even more of an obligation to my readers to let this be known
So here is my nail polish from Lime Crime and the problem I had...
Pigment separation and discolouration
An oily substance has formed at the top of the product
and in the middle of the bottle you can see some deeper waves of colour
(The little white fleck is just something stuck to my bottle)
The answer seems simple right? Just, shake the bottle surely.
But sadly it's not enough to mix the liquids back together
Here you can see how it has happened to the entire collection
Some are worst than others, but it happened to them all
I did contact Lime Crime about the problem who told me this was a sacrifice they had to
make in order for them to achieve the level of pigment they wanted for the products
I was even contacted by Doe herself regarding my disappointment and she has now
realised that they could use some of those little balls to help mix the product
So that's where things were left in my line of enquiry and I do hope that it
means future production will not face this problem and have the mixing balls included
But nothing has been announced through their social media regarding this
There has been no product recalls or a hault in production
It does leave me questioning the length of quality control testing
I would have thought anyone would test products over a long period of time so that
if there is a problem then it can be addressed and fixed before the product is released
I didn't manage to find the little balls from a cosmetics supplier
(TKB have a $24 flat shipping rate to the UK, boohoo)
So I thought the next best option was BB gun pellets haha
and here is how the same polish looks after its been shaken with the balls inside...
Much better
This has re-mixed all the oily substance
Though you can see some of the deeper pigmentation still remains
This mixing method made them all usable again
I really did think I was going to have to throw these away
and that wasn't something I wanted to do after spending £35 on them
For such a high price tag, I expected a much better quality product
Hopefully I will do a review and swatch of these in the future
but if I am really honest, this whole fiasco put me off using them
So yes, whilst I am an affiliate and fan of Lime Crime
I must say that I do not recommend these
*In the best interest of my readers I did not include my affiliate links in this post*
I also apologise for the pictures, I used my iPhone instead of my camera
